Formerly a U.S. Military reservation, the land was purchased by the Town of Skaneateles and the town created the 300-acre Skaneateles Conservation Area. Much of the conservation is wooded with wetlands and ponds.

Located inside the conservation is Guppy Falls, a stunning 25ft waterfall, and the 1.3 mile Rudl Loop trail.
